 The famous Günter Pröpper sketched a theory of the song in which the complete complex song has a metaphorical power regardless of the analysis of its components. Indeed far too many analysis neglect or ignore the complex metaphor of the whole when analysing only a level, a component or a detail, especially words but music too.
